I began training at Northside Boxing Gym in 2012. Northside is not only a gym it’s a community and when you train, you’re expected to train hard. This is easy when you have the support of everyone in the gym cheering you on to do and be the best you can. You are pushed to your limits and you learn just how much your body can achieve. Anyone who enters the gym automatically becomes a part of the Northside Boxing family – this is one of the gym’s great aspects. I consider Northside my second family and it truly has become my second home!
I began attending Koder’s all-body workout sessions twice a week. These sessions taught me how to push and challenge myself in all aspects of my training and I achieved great results. Soon after, I decided to raise the bar and train at least five days a week, including Saturday mornings. I was dedicated and passionate about training, so I took the opportunity to run the Saturday boxing session, which I was extremely happy and honoured to do! Now every Saturday at 8.30am (sharp), I run a challenging training session including: boxing, strength and core workouts, ensuring I achieve a versatile and challenging full body workout.
I have been one of the trainers at Northside Boxing Gym for 5 years. I enjoy going in on Saturday morning and challenging every person that comes through the door, from young kids and beginners to professional athletes! What I love most is seeing people grow in confidence and challenge themselves to reach their full potential. It’s rewarding to hear that people love coming to the class and most importantly I get to pass on my passion for boxing and training. It’s great to see the gym’s progress over the years and watch the family grow, especially seeing younger kids coming through! In the words of Northside Boxing Gym, ‘Go hard or go home!’
